wherever-you-go-there-you-are   full-catastrophe-living   mindfulness-in-plain-english   a-path-with-heart
This time-honoured bestseller maps out both the rationale and a simple path for cultivating mindfulness one’s own way in one’s own life. It speaks both to those coming to meditation for the first time, to long time practitioners, and to anyone who cares deeply about experiencing life and consciousness itself, to the fullest.

Personal note - simple and easy to read and great for beginners. Another one of my favourites.
Stress can sap out energy, undermine our health and shorten our lives, as well as make us more vulnerable to depression, anxiety, disconnection and disease. This ground breaking book, based on Jon Kabat-Zinn’s Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Program, uses the wisdom of the body and mind to manage stress, pain and illness. By engaging in mindfulness practices and integrating them into your life from moment to moment and day to day, you can learn to manage chronic pain, promote optimal healing, reduce anxiety and improve the overall quality of your life, relationships and social networks.

Personal note - very indepth and not a quick read but worth it.
One of the most influential books in the burgeoning field of mindfulness, this book is a timeless classic introduction to meditation. A step by step guide through the myths, realities, and benefits of meditation and the practice of mindfulness, the tools of meditation, what they do and how to make them work.   Written by a teacher, psychologist and renowned meditation master, this is a warm, inspiring and practical book. Its gentle wisdom will guide you through the ups and downs of contemporary living, such as addiction, psychological and emotional healing, problems with relationships and the difficulties of achieving a balanced life of simplicity, to bring alive the possibilities of inner peace, wholeness and the achievement of happiness.

Personal note - beautiful book - one of my favourites.

peace-of-mind   meditation-an-indepth-guide    the-mind-that-changes-everything
The ultimate goal of meditation is to generate peace of mind. In the process it produces many other tangible benefits and can transform your life. This best selling classic clearly and completely sets out the many benefits and techniques of meditation, presented in a style that combines the clear logic of the Western intellect with the intuitive insight of the Eastern mystic.

Personal note - nice and easy to read - great beginner's guide.
This is a guide for anyone who wants to meditate, offering the techniques and understanding to explore meditation practice deeply. It introduces Mindfulness Based Stillness Meditation, how to build a daily practice and how meditation can be used to work with our emotions, aid healing and management of physical pain and to serve as a spiritual practice.   Scientific studies have revealed that the brain’s has the capacity to change its structure and function, depending on how we use it. calm-kids    connected-kids    meditation-for-children    nightlights
Mindfulness and meditation can help children to recognise and cope with tension and stress throughout their lives. In this encouraging and practical book a different variety of approaches to help kids feel calmer, happier and more peaceful are explained, from meditation for busy families, groups, toddlers, teenagers, kids with ADHD and autism.

Personal note - this book and the course that Lorraine offers are what started me on my journey to be a meditation teacher. :)
In this sequel to Calm Kids, the author introduces a range of activities that will help children to teens learn to relax, de-stress and feel centred, including how to develop bespoke tools to support children with special needs. Learn how meditation can support brain development, emotional intelligence, self regulation, improved learning, problem solving and overcoming challenges.

Personal note - this book is so much more than tools to use with kids with ADHD, etc. - great tips on just connecting personally.
A practical blueprint for creating strong, close bonds between family members with  exercises that have been shown to spark children's creativity, engage their imagination and intuitive capacities, reduce stress and anxiety, build a positive self-image, create trust and enrich friendships.

Personal note - this book is a great family tool for connecting and sharing - I've used a few of these exercises with my own kids to "get to know" each other better.
This is a unique combination of meditation and bed time stories, which nurture the bond between parent and child, as well as helps your child develop concentration, creativity, confidence and relaxation. It includes 20 x visualisation stories, each with a specific set of affirmations, designed to help children believe in themselves and their potential.

Personal note - I really love the concept and stories in this book but I did find that they can start off a bit "scary", e.g. walking in to woods at night alone.
