Guided Meditations - Kids
Similar to telling your child a bedtime story, meditation helps children use their imagination to switch off and enter into an Alpha state – relaxed but alert. This state of relaxation helps with grounding restless energy, releasing muscle tension and aiding restful sleep.
Meditation also aids in cognitive functions such as learning, memory and problem solving via attention regulation. Practicing being in a state of stillness for prolonged periods of time can develop new brain cells in the area of our brains responsible for learning and memory.
Teaching children to be mindful and live with a greater level of awareness, helps them to be more present, aware and accepting of their current state. As they become more self-aware, they become less reactive to stressful or emotional situations and spend less time ruminating.
